Outside temperature gauge going ballistic.

If you have the luck to have a Vauxhall Cavalier with the digital clock and the outside temperature gauge, then there will be a day that temperatures will rise to a high 70 degrees Celsius or it will just display dashes.... My car has had it twice now in the 5 years I have owned it. Luckily this one is easy to cure...

The culprit is the temperature sensor. The Vauxhall dealer will have plenty in stock since they fail frequently but I went to my local scrap yard where I got charged a mere £2 for a replacement. Wonder how long it will work this time...

The sensor is located at the driver-side of the car just under the bumper, next to the horn. In fact, you don't even need to go under the car, but you can feel the sensor if you reach under the bumper.

You can remove the sensor without any tools by gently pulling it straight down. The wire is fairly long, you won't pull it loose at the other end.

Unclip the connector, connect the new one and push the assembly back in place.

All of this shouldn't take more than 5 minutes for anybody!
